Your new favorite de-bloating elixir

What if I told you, you could make a drink that helps with digestion, aids in swollen face and belly and fights inflammation, using only two ingredients, in less than 10 minutes all at home? This drink has helped me so much with bloating issues that I’ve struggled with for years and felt hopeless at finding successful solutions. Studies show drinking hibiscus not only balances our hormones, but also reduces water retention in the body, and eliminates bloating. One of the hormones responsible for regulating electrolyte levels and water intake is aldosterone. The excess of it causes the body to retain salt and water and causes bloating and hibiscus tea prevents the body from producing high amounts of it, preventing bloating.

Bloating is often caused by inflammation of the stomach lining, also called gastritis, which disrupts the typical gastric motility, resulting in bloating. Studies show drinking hibiscus not only balances hormones, but also reduces water retention in the body, and eliminates bloating. In scientific terms, the high flavonoid content in hibiscus tea helps modulate aldosterone, or the hormone responsible for regulating electrolyte levels and water intake.

Instructions

All you’ll need is dried hibiscus flowers and water.

Boil around a liter of water and throw in 40 grams of the dried hibiscus flowers. Boil them for 8 minutes and strain. You can store your concentrate for up to two weeks in the fridge. It’s such a great juice alternative! Dilute the concentrate with water and you’re ready to go!

Love, Zosia

Hi, I’m Zosia, and I’m your 18-year-old internationally certified Kundalini and Vinyasa Yoga teacher. I created this space - the online wellness studio and yoga shala to make it possible for young women to have a place to unwind after the daily stresses of life and do it from anywhere. Imagine this is your wild island escape: a crystal-clear ocean, coconut water, palm trees and shells.

Balancing Vinyasa and Kundalini in my teachings, I have created a unique yoga style inspired by the ocean and its tides, the NWS method. There is physical flow and sweat that bring a sense of cleanse and awakening, and there is spiritual work that brings self-awareness and love.

Certified yoga instructor, surfer and a lover of creating plant based recipes.
